Blaylock Van continues supporting The Indiana Project, an initiative mentoring minority students pursuing financial investment careers.
Program Impact
The 2024/2025 cohort grew to 30 students (up from 26), now including both junior and senior participants. Graduates pursue diverse paths in law, management, and finance. In 2024, alumnus Taheed Moore joined Bank of America as a Credit Analyst, exemplifying the program’s career impact.
Through guidance and industry resources, we help bridge the representation gap in finance, where minorities comprise only 5% of the workforce.
Mission and Commitment
Through comprehensive guidance, professional development, and access to industry resources, we aim to transform lives and help bridge the representation gap in the financial sector, where minorities currently comprise only 5% of the workforce. The Indiana Project serves as a crucial pipeline for developing the next generation of diverse financial professionals.
Leadership
Program founder David Girton, Blaylock Van Senior Vice President and former IPS Board Commissioner, advocates for educational equity. In 2024, he received the Inspiring Alumni Award from the Indianapolis Public School Hall of Fame, following his 2023 Alumni Leadership Award from Indiana University Indianapolis.
The Indiana Project demonstrates how targeted mentorship creates pathways to finance careers for underrepresented students.

buildOn mobilizes youth in low-income countries to build schools. American youth transform their own communities through service and change the world by helping build these schools.
Blaylock Van is proud to be a National Sponsor of buildOn, alongside Ernst & Young, GE Aerospace, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. buildOn is a global nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations through education and service. The organization empowers youth across the U.S. to transform their neighborhoods through community service and to change the world by building schools in some of the world’s most impoverished countries.
This year, we were honored to serve as presenting sponsors for buildOn’s annual gala, alongside Pfizer and Synchrony. The evening was a powerful reminder of the profound impact of buildOn’s mission. We were particularly inspired by Khadijah Cham’s moving story of transformation through service. From volunteering locally to building schools in Malawi and Nepal, Khadijah shared how compassion, community, and the empowerment of women can create lasting change—one life at a time.
The evening also featured Alan Murray, renowned author and founding president of the Dow Jones Leadership Institute, who shared valuable insights on leadership and purpose, reflecting on his own contributions to buildOn. The event concluded with inspiring fundraising efforts, with over 500 attendees actively participating to help build a brighter future for communities around the world.
Today, buildOn continues its incredible work, building a new school every two days worldwide and empowering youth in U.S. cities to become leaders of change.
IMPACT
Community members have contributed more than 4.9 million volunteer workdays to build 2,873 schools in eight of the economically poorest countries in the world. More than 372,000 children, parents and grandparents attend these schools globally every day, with the US impact being 12,000 students. We are at or above capacity in all schools and 50% of all students are girls. In the United States, more than 200,000 youth have contributed close to 2.5 million hours of service in some of the economically poorest neighborhoods. 98% of these students graduate from high school compared to only 60% of their peers from the same schools.
